My first trip to Hong Kong was like two decades ago, and I paid several of my visits to Hong Kong in the later years and there rests a kind of complexity in defying definitions of the landscape, what I mean is, I might have an understanding of the city from every single visit, with subtle differences in emotions and judgement. Some of the landmarks in Hongkong where the locals as well as the travelers might check out, include The Peak Galleria, Golden Bauhinia Square, city-center horse races, and HK Racing Museum. As for the reasons why I want to relocate to these enchanting neighborhoods and islands are simply as follows: On the one hand, as one of the world’s top culinary capitals, the city that worships the God of Cookery, has many a demon in the kitchen, whether the deliciousness in the pot is Cantonese, Japanese or French. So deep is the city’s love of food, and so broad its culinary repertoire that whatever your gastronomic desires, Hong Kong will find a way to sate them. The answer could be a bowl of wonton noodles, freshly steamed dim sum, a warm pineapple bun wedged with butter, a pair of the sweetest prawns, your first-ever stinky tofu, or the creations of the latest celebrity chef. On the other hand, it is the only place where I can be lunching with a Buddhist at a Sikh temple, trying to decipher the aesthetics of Chinese Revival architecture, followed by a night of Cantonese opera, karaoke, or poetry. Anyway, it is so intense and full of possibilities. I suppose, it is dynamic cultural landscape, deeply intertwined with its Chinese roots, colonial connections as well as the contributions of its home-grown talent, kind of indigenous talents, making lots of commitments to their hometown.
